How to Hire Senior Software Engineers in Egypt and the Gulf in Under 30 Days

Senior engineering roles in the region take an average of two to three months to fill, and a large share of them are reopened within the first year. Neither number is inevitable. They are the product of a process that starts sourcing before the requirement is understood and stops evaluating once the résumé looks right.

This playbook lays out how SiloHub fills senior and technical-lead roles across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider MENA market in under 30 days, and what you can change on your side to make that timeline realistic.

Why senior roles stall

Mid-level hiring is mostly a volume problem. Senior hiring is a precision problem, and it stalls for reasons that have little to do with candidate supply:

  • The requirement is a wish list. “Senior full-stack engineer with AWS, Kubernetes, React, Python, security experience and leadership skills” describes four people, not one.
  • Senior engineers are not on job boards. The strongest architects and leads in Cairo, Riyadh and Dubai are employed, referred, and rarely applying. Keyword sourcing never reaches them.
  • The interview loop is designed for juniors. Six rounds and a take-home test that ignores the candidate’s track record signals that the company does not know how to evaluate seniority.
  • Offers arrive too late. A senior candidate in the Gulf typically holds two or three conversations at once. A written offer that takes ten days to assemble loses to one that takes two.

The 30-day timeline, step by step

Below is the sequence we run on every senior requisition. The day counts are SLA standards, not aspirations.

Days 0–2: Needs analysis and scoring rubric

Before any outreach, we map the tech stack, the architecture the hire will own, the team they will lead and the business outcome expected in the first six months. The output is a one-page rubric with must-have and nice-to-have criteria that the hiring manager signs off. This single step removes most of the back-and-forth that normally eats the first three weeks.

Days 1–3: Targeted network sourcing

Senior candidates are reached through targeted, confidential outreach in our network of more than 550,000 regional and global tech professionals, not through public postings. For Gulf-based roles this includes engineers currently in Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan who are open to relocation, as well as expatriate leads already in the market.

Day 2: First vetted profiles

Our SLA commits to the first screened profiles within 48 hours. For senior roles these are typically engineers already known to our evaluators, with prior assessment data on file.

Days 3–10: Deep technical vetting

Every candidate completes a practical assessment aligned to the rubric and sits a technical conversation with an evaluator from a comparable background. For architects and leads we go further: system-design walkthroughs of real projects, incident retrospectives and a review of how they have grown other engineers. Executive reference checks are complimentary on leadership searches.

A tight interview loop with the right people in the room is the fastest lever in senior hiring.

Days 10–20: A shortlist of two to three, then interviews

You receive two to three fully evaluated profiles with technical reports. Because the screening is already done, most clients run a single panel interview plus a leadership conversation. Nine out of ten candidates we present are invited to interview, which is why the loop is short.

Days 20–24: Offer package within 48–72 hours

Once a candidate is selected, we coordinate a comprehensive written offer within 48 to 72 hours, including relocation or remote-work terms where relevant. Speed here is not cosmetic. It is the difference between securing the candidate and restarting the search.

Day 30 and beyond: Onboarding and 90-day warranty

We stay involved through onboarding with post-hire check-ins, and every placement carries a 90-day free replacement warranty. If the hire does not work out, the requisition is refilled at no cost.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE: what changes by market

The process is the same. The constraints are not.

MarketWhat accelerates senior hiringWhat slows it down
EgyptDeep engineering bench, strong architecture and cybersecurity talent, competitive cost base for remote and hybrid teamsCounter-offers from international remote employers; underestimating the market rate for leads
Saudi ArabiaLarge enterprise, fintech and government digital programmes creating clear mandatesRelocation logistics; roles written for local presence when hybrid would widen the pool
UAEFast decision cycles and strong scaleup demandMultiple parallel offers per candidate; slow written offers lose people in days

Five things you can do this week to shorten the cycle

  1. Write the rubric before the job description. Three must-haves, three nice-to-haves, one measurable outcome for month six.
  2. Name the decision maker. Senior searches stall when three people can say no and nobody can say yes.
  3. Pre-approve the compensation band. Discovering the budget is 20% short on day 22 restarts the clock.
  4. Collapse the loop. One technical panel, one leadership conversation, one decision meeting. Everything else is already covered by the vetting.
  5. Prepare the offer template now. Legal review of a contract should happen before the candidate is found, not after.

When 30 days is not the right target

Some searches should take longer: a CTO for a regulated bank, a VP of Engineering expected to restructure three teams, a cybersecurity lead in a defence-adjacent environment. For those, the discipline is the same, but the vetting is deeper and the timeline is agreed up front rather than forced. What should never take longer is the wait for a first qualified conversation.

The bottom line

Filling a senior engineering role in under 30 days is not about sourcing faster. It is about deciding what “qualified” means before you start, letting engineers verify it, and moving decisively once it is verified. That is the entire model behind SiloHub’s Executive and Technical Leadership Search.
